Biographical note

Musgrave's Obituary has an entry of the death of Anne Bromwich in 1628, the daughter of Edward Trotman, a lawyer of Gloucester, who may be the original compiler of this MS. It was certainly owned, and largely added to by Rhoda Hussey, daughter of Thomas Chapman of London. Her second husband was Baron Ferdinando Fairfax of Cameron [1584-1648], whom she married in 1646, and by whom she had a daughter, Ursula. Her initials are stamped on the covers (R.H.) and her signature as 'Rhoda Hussey' and 'Rhoda Fairfax' are found on the first fly-leaf, together with that of her daughter Ursula Fairfax [1647-1702], dated 30 March 1665. She died in 1686.
