Culley, Lucy (& others)

Lucy Culley's Receipt Book. A collection of cookery, medical and household receipts, with additions by numerous hands. Only the first two leaves are by the original compiler. William Paul whose name appears on the verso of fol. 9, with date 1794, seems to have written the receipts as far as the 33rd leaf. These are followed by various receipts by different hands, the latest of which on the verso of fol. 53 is dated 1858. There are 14 inserted receipts by various 19th cent. hands pasted in after fol. 54.

1 volume 91 ff. 4to. 20 x 16 cm. Original calf binding rebacked. Some leaves are probably missing at the beginning and end. The last leaf is pasted down on to the lower cover. The title as given above has been cut out, and pasted down on to the upper cover. A foliation has been added in pencil.
