About this work

Description

Collection of medical receipts, with a few cookery receipts: in English by several hands.

On p. 225 and p. 229 are marginal notes 'This I make Eliz. Okeover now Adderley', and some receipts, including most of the cookery receipts at the end of the volume, are endorsed 'E.O.' The main section, however, pp. 69-216, seems to have been written by an earlier owner in the last quarter of the 17th cent. There are also a few additions by early 18th cent. hands.

1 volume 4 [5] bl. ll. + 257 pp. + 38 bl. ll. + 12 pp. + 13 ll. (last bl.). 4to. 21 × 151/2 cm. Original limp vellum gilt-stamped binding: both silk ties wanting. A preliminary leaf has been cut out: first (blank) leaf slightly damaged. Text within red rules.
