A booke of preserves cookerie and phisicall medicines.

There are a few additions by other hands: on p. 93 one of these is dated 1695.

The volume includes an unidentified pressed flower at f.89r.

1 volume 4 ll. + 181 pp. + 30 ll. (last bl.). folio. 31 × 20 cm. Original calf binding, badly worn and damaged. Pp. 30-35, 70-79, 97-102, 145/146 wanting: lower corner of the first leaf torn away.

Purchased at Sotheby's (Hornby Castle Sale) 2/6/1930, Lot 161.

Biographical note

On the first leaf is the name 'Danby' and date 1670. Sir Thomas was successively first Earl of Danby, Marquis of Carmarthen, and Duke of Leeds. (see the Dictionary of National Biography).
