About this work

Description

Collection of medical, veterinary, culinary and household recipes, apparently compiled by a Coventry housewife, late 18th - early 19th century. With some verses and commonplaces written from the rear of the volume. Partly printed. A number of the recipes are taken from the press, chiefly the Coventry Mercury, 1801, and there are numerous press cuttings pasted in. Coventry medical figures mentioned include Dr Rattery (f.15r.) Dr Harrold (f.21v.) and Dr Simpson (f.26r.).
