British Phrenological Society

The stray volumes held in this collection do not constitute anything close to a complete archive of the Society. Present are minutes of the Council and of AGMs, 1951-1964; class attendance books, 1915-1938 and 1951-1966; and a Visitors' Book, 1955-1966.

These stray volumes were received with a gift of books from the British Medical Association to the library at Wellcome Collection.

The British Phrenological Society was established in 1886, incorporated in 1899, and disbanded in 1966/1967.

Books from the library of the British Phrenological Society was acquired by the British Medical Association, and apparently these volumes also passed to the BMA at this time.
