The following is an interim description which may change when detailed cataloguing takes place in future:

HIV/AIDS publications, literature and other papers and items collected by Ruth Lowbury in the course of her work and activities in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention and health education, notably including publications and grey literature of the Health Education Authority, reports by and to government departments, reports by organisations and associations.

Also includes two t-shirts, one from the USA and one from Russia, advertising safe sex using condoms, 1990s, 3 videos, 1 audio cassette, an unopened packet of condoms and a keyring.

Biographical note

Ruth Lowbury has been Chief Executive of the Medical Foundation for HIV and Sexual Health (MEDFASH) since 2000. From 1990 she was at the Health Education Authority where she worked in the HIV and Sexual Health Programme first as a project manager, and from 1995 as Programme Manager. Much of the material in this collection originates from the HEA. Further details of Ruth Lowbury's background and career can be found on the MEDFASH website: http://www.medfash.org.uk/staff. MEDFASH is an independent charity dedicated to improving the quality of HIV and sexual healthcare, supporting and guiding health professionals and policy makers since 1987.
