Historical Background The Education and Training Department was established in 1973 to pioneer sexuality and personal relationships training for health, education and social services professionals. The Unit offered training and consultancy services to teachers, youth workers and other professionals working with young people. It developed various education resources, "Loving and Caring", "Danny's Big Night", "Male and Female Teaching Cards" for example, andalso played a part in public debates on health and sex education in schools.
